Coronary artery disease (CAD)

This is the narrowing of the arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle. It's often caused by a buildup of plaque, which is made up of fat, cholesterol, and other substances. CAD can lead to chest pain (angina), heart attack, and heart failure.

Congenital heart disease

Congenital heart disease is a heart defect that is present at birth. These defects can affect the structure of the heart, the blood vessels near the heart, or both. Symptoms of congenital heart disease can vary depending on the severity of the defect. Some children with congenital heart disease may have no symptoms at all, while others may experience shortness of breath, fatigue, or swelling.

Arrhythmia

An arrhythmia is an abnormal heart rhythm. There are many different types of arrhythmias, some of which are harmless and others that can be serious. Symptoms of arrhythmia can include heart palpitations, dizziness, and fainting.

Heart Valve Disease

Heart valve disease is a condition that affects one or more of the four valves in your heart. These valves ensure blood flows through your heart in the correct direction. When a valve doesn't open or close properly, it can disrupt blood flow throughout your body.

Heart Muscle Disease (Cardiomyopathy)

Cardiomyopathy weakens your heart muscle, hindering its ability to pump blood effectively. Caused by genetics, infections, or lifestyle factors, it can enlarge, thicken, or stiffen the heart. Shortness of breath, fatigue, and swelling are common symptoms. Early diagnosis and treatment with medications, lifestyle changes, or surgery can help manage this condition.

Rheumatic Heart Disease

Rheumatic heart disease is a serious condition that damages your heart valves. It arises from a complication of rheumatic fever, an inflammatory response triggered by untreated strep throat caused by group A streptococcus bacteria. This inflammation can permanently scar and distort the heart valves, hindering their proper function.
